Russell Treble Sets Up Friendly Victory

Coupar Angus 1 Carnoustie Panmure 6

James Russell (3), Garry Warren (2) and Robert Hendry were the scorers as Carnoustie Panmure defeated Coupar Angus 6-1 in a floodlit friendly at the Perthshire club's Foxhall Park last Tuesday night, November 14.

It took the Gowfers just seven minutes to open the scoring, Hall setting up RUSSELL for the first of his three goals.

RUSSELL then netted his second from a Conway cross in 17 minutes.

Six minutes later, Conway was again the provider, his corner from the left being headed home by HENDRY from inside the six yard box to make it 3-0.

On the stroke of half time, a through ball from Abbot released RUSSELL, who lobbed the advancing keeper from about 25 yards to complete a splendid first half hat-trick.

After a fairly quiet start to the second half, Carnoustie went nap in 70 minutes when WARREN took a pass from Russell and drilled a shot into the keepers top right-hand corner from just outside the box.

Three minutes later, a ball from Conway up the right-hand side of the park was picked up by WARREN, whose curling left foot shot from just inside the right-hand side of the box put the Gowfers 6-0 ahead.

Coupar Angus scored a consolation goal in 78 minutes when a diagnol pass from midfield took a bad bounce in front of Morrison, allowing the home striker in to fire home a suspiciously offside position.
