Carnoustie deservedly took the lead in seven minutes. Carnoustie were doing most of the pressing, but in 52 minutes a rare counter-attack saw Vics pull a goal back. Longmuir sent the ball up the right to Eaton, who was fouled by Hendry. When the free kick came over, the ball bobbled about in the goalmouth with various players getting a touch before GAULD eventually prodded it over the line from two yards.Carnoustie made yet another change in 56 minutes with Conway returning in place of Cumming.
With five minutes remaining, the Gowfers changed things yet again, Suttie making way for Abbot, and what a substitution that turned out to be. Within seconds, Steele, wide on the left, took the ball to the bye-line, then cut it back to ABBOT, who smashed it home from around 15 yards to complete the scoring in what had been a valuable work-out for both teams.
