Carnousite Panmure Versus Kelty Hearts

Last-Gasp Gowfers

Carnoustie Panmure 1 Kelty Hearts 1

Carnoustie had wind advantage in the first half and almost took an early lead when a Steele cross from the left drifted narrowly over the bar.

Shortly afterwards, Kelty also had a chance to go ahead when McCafferty's attempt to kick clear from a pass-back went straight to Currie, but Stephen got back to mop up the danger.

In nine minutes, Muhsin was booked for a foul on Smart. Kay took the resultant free kick 30 yards out and picked out Graham, but his header was weak and McCafferty had no trouble making the save.

Scott then fouled McDowell in a dangerous position at the edge of the home box. As the Gowfers were lining up their defensive wall, Moffat took the free kick quickly, but curled the ball just wide of the right-hand post.

At the other end, a Conway 40 yard free kick was punched away by Fleming. Muhsin immediately headed the ball back goalwards, but his effort was too direct and went straight to the 'keeper, who saved easily.

Moments later, Kelly was fouled by Finlay 30 yards out, but this time Conway's free kick was headed clear by Kay.

Carnoustie continued to press and a through ball from Abbot released Kelly, whose 25 yard shot flashed across the face of the goal and wide of the far post.

In the Gowfers next attack, Kelly had another chance to open the scoring, but again narrowly missed the target.

A long throw-in from Conway on the left caused alarm in the visitors penalty box, but as the ball bobbled backwards and forwards in the crowded goalmouth, Collier eventually prodded it past from six yards.

Kelty responded with a strong attack up the left, but Smart's cross into the box was headed wide by Currie.

A long-range effort by Moffat failed to trouble McCafferty, going well wide of the 'keepers right-hand post.

In 35 minutes, Mauchlen was booked for a foul on Conway.

A minute later, McDowell was brought down by Bollan, who was also shown the yellow card. Currie's free kick, however, was blocked away by the Gowfers defensive wall.

With the interval fast approaching, Kelly again came close to putting Carnoustie ahead, this time with an inswinging cross from the right, which struck the top of the crossbar and bounced over.

Early in the second half, a short pass-back put McCafferty under pressure, but the 'keeper got to the ball ahead of McDowell and managed to clear it out for a throw.

Kelty then forced a corner on the left, but Currie's cross was headed clear by Muhsin.

As the visitors continued to have the upper hand, a cross fired in from the left by Kay was well held by McCafferty.

In 51 minutes, Ross was booked for obstruction on Conway.

Two minutes later, the Gowfers were caught square when a through ball from Graham released MAUCHLEN, who ran into the box and drove low into McCafferty's bottom left-hand corner from 12 yards.

Kelty now had their tails up and came close to increasing their lead when a low cross from Smart again found Mauchlen in the clear, but his fierce shot from the edge of the box was turned over the bar by McCafferty for a fruitless corner.

Shortly afterwards, Mauchlen was through again on the right-hand side of the box, but McCafferty brought off another fine save to palm the ball away.

Carnoustie eventually got themselves back up the park and won a corner on the right. Abbot took a short one to Scott, whose 25 yard shot was blocked away by Winarski.

The first substitution of the match was made by Carnoustie in 70 minutes, Abbot being replaced by Cumming.

This was followed six minutes later by a double change, Muhsin and Steele making way for Hendry and Voigt.

In 80 minutes, Graham was booked for a foul on Cumming.

A great three-man move by Kelty gave Mauchlen a chance to double the visitors lead, but McCafferty brought off an excellent save to keep the Gowfers in the game.

Kelty then made a substitution in 83 minutes, McDowell going off to be replaced by McDonough.

Shortly after coming on, McDonough should have made sure of all three points for the visitors when he got right through on his own, but shot wide of the target.

That was to prove a costly miss for the Fifers as right on the final whistle a Kelly cross from the right narrowly eluded Stephen, but COLLIER, coming in at the back post, powered a header past Fleming from three yards to give Carnoustie an equaliser.
