Kirrie had the first real chance after four minutes when they were awarded a free kick 25 yards out. Scrimgeour took the kick, but sent the ball high over the top.In 14 minutes, Carnoustie came close to opening the scoring when a Steele cross flashed across the face of the home goal, but Voigt just failed to get a touch.
Five minutes later, Voigt got a foot to a Cumming cross, but only succeeded in touching the ball narrowly past 'keeper Reid's right-hand post.
Carnoustie continued to press and in 25 minutes a Narey 25 yard free kick picked out Voigt, whose header was too direct and went straight to Reid, who had no trouble making the stop.
In 35 minutes, Abbot collected a pass from Muhsin and drove forward to the edge of the box from where he pulled a shot narrowly past Reid's right-hand post.
Late in the first half, Abbot and Cumming linked in a neat one-two and from the latter's cross Steele was just off target with the ball going narrowly past Reid's right-hand upright.

Before the second half got under way, both sides made a substitution. A.Conway taking over from Cumming for Carnoustie and Kinmond replacing Scrimgeour for Kirrie.
Right from the off, the Gowfers pushed forward with Abbot feeding a pass through to substitute Conway, who fired off a shot, but sent the ball high over the bar.
Carnoustie made a double change in 63 minutes with Abbot and Voigt being replaced by Cook and Collier.
In 71 minutes, the Gowfers mounting pressure was at last rewarded with the opening goal. Steele's cross to the back post was only partially cleared and fell to COOK, who hammered the ball into the back of the net, giving Reid no chance.
Next minute, a further change saw O'Boyle going on in place of Morrison.
Carnoustie were now well on top and in 79 minutes doubled their lead when a Muhsin cross was nodded down by Stephen and as the ball bounced back up STEELE was on hand to heaad home from three yards.
In 85 minutes, a Steele cross from the left was met by O'BOYLE, who rose to power a header past Reid from 12 yards for the Gowfers' third.
The remaining few minutes were played out with Carnoustie still pushing forward, but unable to add to their tally.
The referee then brought to a close what had been an entertaining game and a valuable work-out for both sides.
