Carnousite Panmure Versus Blairgowrie

Carnoustie Panmure 4 Blairgowrie 1

Carnoustie Panmure put Saturday's heavy league defeat from Musselburgh Athletic behind them to record a comfortable 4-1 home victory over Blairgowrie at Laing Park on Wednesday to progress to the quarter-finals of the Currie Cup.

Regular 'keeper John McCafferty was unavailable through injury and was re-placed by recent signing Craig Jamieson, making his first start for the club.

It took the Gowfers just 11 minutes to open the scoring, Scott sending in a good cross from the left to HALL, who hammered the ball high into the roof of the net from the edge of the box.

Carnoustie doubled their lead in 21 minutes when Clark hit the by-line before playing the ball back across the face of the goal to VOIGT, who drove home from eight yards.

Just six minutes later, it was three. A tremendous 30-yard drive by Clark rebounded from the post, but HUNTER, following up, fired home from close-in.

In 61 minutes, Carnoustie went four up when a Conway corner from the left picked out COLLIER, who bulleted a header past Nugent from six yards, giving the 'keeper no chance.

Blairgowrie were seldom in the contest, but grabbed a late consolation goal in 87 minutes following a Menzies corner on the right. His cross to the back post was met by the unmarked FARQUHARSON, who headed home.

The only booking of the match occurred two minutes from time when Blair centre-half Christison saw yellow after a foul on substitute McLaughlin.
