VOIGT DOUBLE SEALS POINTS FOR GOWFERS
Carnoustie Panmure 2 Kinnoull 0
Carnoustie had wind advantage in the first half and squandered an early chance when a Cook cross from the right was missed by both Voigt and Collier, but the ball went out for a corner off Ross. Conway's flag kick produced a frantic goalmouth scramble before the ball was eventually cleared away.A long ball forward from Scott put the Gowfers in again, but Voigt's shot from the edge of the box was wide of the mark.
In 10 minutes, Kelly was booked for dissent.
Kinnoull's first real attempt at goal was an Anton 25 yard effort, but was too direct and easily held by McCafferty.
As the visitors continued to press, an Anton cross was turned behind by Thompson, but Hunter beat everyone to McManus's cross and headed clear.
Milne had to go off for treatment to a head knock in 16 minutes. He returned to the field shortly afterwards, but in 18 minutes was substituted by Gordon.
Carnoustie came close to opening the scoring when Thompson got his head to a Conway corner and only a goal-line clearance by Morrison at the right-hand post prevented a certain goal.
At the other end, McAllister connected well with a Kelly cross, but McCafferty blocked the shot for a corner. Maher, however, put his cross too near the goal and it was cleared by Thompson at the near post.
Back came the Gowfers and a Muhsin cross from the right fell to Conway, who shot high over the bar from 25 yards.
Scott created another opening for Carnoustie with a long through ball to Collier, who controlled it well before aiming a chip for the far top corner of the net, but was just off target.
In 35 minutes, Carnoustie deservedly took the lead when a low cross from Muhsin on the right was met by VOIGT, who fired a shot goalwards from 10 yards. Bruce got a hand to the ball, but it crept over the line and the Gowfers were ahead.
Hunter required treatment for a leg knock in 40 minutes. However, he was unable to continue and was replaced by Hall.
Shortly before half-time, another chance went a-begging when Conway fired in a cross from the left to Cook, who headed straight at Bruce when he should have done better.
Half Time : Carnoustie Panmure 1 Kinnoull 0
Carnoustie resumed with Clark on in place of Scott, who had picked up a knock during the first half.Kinnoull now had the wind at their backs and immediately went on the attack. Thompson conceded a foul on Kelly just outside the box, but McManus's free kick was blocked by the defensive wall.
At the other end, Gardiner went down injured attempting to clear a Conway corner and when play was stopped Voigt was booked for dissent.
Showing no ill effects of his injury, Gardiner unleashed a fierce drive from the left-hand corner of the box, which McCafferty did well to touch over for a fruitless corner.
Just when Kinnoull were threatening to get back on level terms, Carnoustie doubled their lead with a well-taken goal in 61 minutes. Collier got to the bye-line and crossed to the far post where VOIGT powered a header past Bruce for the Gowfers' second.
The visitors kept battling away and McAllister had a drive blocked for a corner on the right. McManus's cross was headed goalwards by Ross, but Hall was there to clear at the right-hand post.
A fine solo run by substitute Clark almost produced a third goal for Carnoustie. He fed the ball through to Collier, whose 15 yard strike came back off the crossbar, and Voigt's shot from the rebound was blocked for a corner. Conway's flag kick picked out Thompson, whose header was blocked on the line by Hall, who had unfortunately got in the way in the crowded goalmouth.
Gunnion put the Gowfers' defence under pressure with a long throw, but McManus rather snatched at his shot and put it wide of the target.
In 75 minutes, Smith was booked for dissent.
Kinnoull kept plugging away and won a corner on the right. Bradshaw's cross to the far post was met by Kelly, who headed just wide.
Moments later, a fine effort by McManus from the edge of the box clipped the top of the crossbar and went over for a goal kick.
Right on the final whistle, substitute Steele saw yellow for a foul on Morrison. This proved to be the last incident of note as shortly afterwards the referee blew for full-time and the Gowfers had recorded their first league victory of the season.
