Carnoustie attacked from the kick-off and within four minutes had taken the lead. Home 'keeper Vanderdyle failed to collect a through ball from Conway and with the goalie stranded well off his line, VOIGT fired high into the empty net from an angle.Having got their noses in front, the Gowfers now went in search of further goals and McLauchlin was unlucky to see a fine drive cleared off the line by Ogilvie with Vanderdyle beaten.
Conway then unleashed a fierce 35 yard drive, which produced a fine save from Vanderdyle at his right-hand post.
West End began to come more into the game and had a chance for the equaliser when Pirie broke clear on the right, but McCafferty saved well at his right-hand post.
Shortly afterwards, Logan was booked for a foul on Beith, but Conway's free kick was headed clear by Stewart.
In 25 minutes, Robertson received treatment for a leg knock, but two minutes later he went down injured again and this time was replaced by Scott.
West End came close to drawing level when a Pirie free kick from the right was headed narrowly past by Stewart.
The home side's pressure was rewarded in 31 minutes when, following a Muckersie corner on the right, Scott was short with a headed backpass and ROBERTS nipped in to prod the loose ball past McCafferty for the equaliser.
In 33 minutes Voigt was booked for a foul on Stewart.
Four minutes later, Carnoustie were forced to make a second substitution when Beith had to leave the field with an ankle injury and was replaced by Hall.
Smith launched a Gowfers' counter-attack with a long ball forward over the West End defence, but Voigt squandered the opportunity by shooting straight at the 'keeper.
Scott then got on the end of a Conway cross, but saw his shot blocked behind for a corner on the left. Voigt got his head to Conway's cross, but with the 'keeper beaten, the ball rebounded clear off the base of the left-hand post.
At the other end, a Muckersie corner from the right was cleared by Hunter, who then clashed heads with Stewart and both players required treatment before continuing.

The second half began with West End forcing an early corner on the right, but Muckersie's cross curled right into McCafferty's arms.Stewart was then put through by Lawson, but shot high over the top from the edge of the box.
Carnoustie fought their way back into the game and were unlucky not to regain the lead when Clark and Hall combined to set up a chance for McLauchlin, who shot narrowly over.
Hunter fouled Bonella 25 yards out and from Stewart's free kick the ball was deflected behind for a corner. Slack marking allowed Stewart a free header from Lawson's cross, but his effort went over the top, much to the relief of the Gowfers' defence.
Shortly afterwards, there was a near thing at the other end after a Conway free kick was headed down in the crowded goalmouth. Shots from Scott and Clark were both blocked by defenders before the ball was eventually scrambled clear.
Carnoustie again came close when Scott connected well with a Conway corner, but his fierce drive was well held by Vanderdyle at his left-hand upright.
In 75 minutes, Roberts was booked for dissent. Scott took the disputed free kick and picked out Thompson, whose long-range header was well saved by the 'keeper.
Substitute Sime tried a long-range effort for West End, but his shot was well off target.
Carnoustie's Clark was booked for dissent in 84 minutes. Unfortunately, the player continued to mouth-off at the referee and was promptly shown a second yellow card followed by the red, reducing the Gowfers to 10 men for the remaining few minutes.
Another booking followed in 89 minutes when Conway was yellow-carded for a foul on Logan.
Right on the final whistle, substitute Johnston had the ball in the net for West End, but the homesters' joy was short-lived as the 'goal' was disallowed for offside.
