FIRST LEAGUE WIN FOR GOWFERS

Straight from the kick-off, Reilly played the ball forward into the Fauldhouse box, but Cooper stepped in to clear it away.However, the Gowfers continued to press and in four minutes took the lead when CLARK beat Brunton to a long through ball from Cook and knocked it past the stranded 'keeper into the empty net.
Four minutes later, it was almost two when Clark ran on to a pass from D. Smith and took the ball up the left before sending over a great cross to the far side of the box, but Cumming squandered the opportunity by shooting high over the bar.
Carnoustie were well on top at this stage and doubled their lead in 11 minutes when McIlravey took the ball almost to the bye-line before firing in a cross, which struck the inrushing CLARK on the knee and was diverted goalwards. Brunton thought he had managed to keep the ball out, but the referee's assistant spotted it had crossed the line and the goal was given.
In 21 minutes, Masson went down injured in a clash with McKenzie and after some four minutes of treatment had to be helped off.
Play restarted with a drop ball, which Felvus punted deep into the Gowfers' half, winning a corner off Robertson. A second corner followed in quick succession, but before this could be taken, the Gowfers were forced to make a change with Masson, who was unable to continue, being replaced by McSkimming.
McKenzie's flag kick was knocked behind by McKnight and from Jamieson's goal kick, the ball carried deep into the Fauldhouse half. Cumming tried to chase the ball in, but Brunton came rushing from his line and booted his clearance right out of the park.
In 34 minutes, Carnoustie came close to notching a third when Cumming sent in a low cross from the right, but Reilly rather snatched at his shot and the ball spun just wide of Brunton's left-hand upright.
As the interval approached, Fauldhouse began to come more into the game and should have pulled a goal back when McKnight played the ball through a rather static Gowfers' defence, but the unmarked I. Smith shot wide of Jamieson's left-hand post when it looked easier to score.
As play surged back to the other end, Cumming was fouled by Wilson, who was immediately shown the yellow card. Before the free kick could be taken, McKenzie was also booked after making comments to the official about his team-mate's caution.
Carnoustie continued to press and with 45 minutes played won a corner on the right when a Reilly shot was deflected behind by Cunningham. D. Smith's cross was only partially cleared and the ball fell to COOK, whose shot struck the underside of the crossbar before going in off 'keeper Brunton's hand to give the Gowfers a three goal interval lead after what had been their best first half display of the season so far.

On the restart, Carnoustie were first to show when McSkimming linked with Cook, who played the ball through for Reilly to chase, but Brunton rushed out to claim it before he could get a touch.In 53 minutes, McIlravey was adjudged to have fouled McKnight just inside the Gowfers' half. Before the free kick could be taken, Felvus and Cumming were both yellow-carded for pushing and jostling each other. McKenzie then took the kick, but curled the ball wide of Jamieson's right-hand post.
With 60 minutes on the watch, Carnoustie made a second change with Clark being replaced by Urquhart. At this point, Fauldhouse also made a switch, replacing I. Smith with O'Neill.
The visitors again came close to reducing the deficit when McKnight picked up a loose ball and played it through to McKenzie, who fired off a shot, which Jamieson got a hand to and pushed it round his left-hand post for what proved a fruitless corner.
In 71 minutes, Fauldhouse made a further change with Stewart going on for Wardlaw.
Six minutes later, Fauldhouse replaced McLenaghan with Connelly, then just a minute later the Gowfers also made their third and final change introducing young trialist Matthew Henderson for Hall.
Three minutes into stoppage time, Fauldhouse pulled a goal back when an attempted clearance by Cumming went straight to McKenzie, who took a couple of steps before sending over a great cross to the unmarked O'NEILL, who brought the ball down and drilled a shot past Jamieson, giving the 'keeper no chance.
Losing possession straight from the centre, the Gowfers then conceded a free kick just outside their own box. McKenzie sent the ball right into the goalmouth where it skidded off HENDRY's head and past Jamieson into the net.
Seconds later, the referee blew for full-time and Carnoustie were left wondering how they managed to concede two goals in less than a minute after dominating for almost the entire match.
Nevertheless, it was still a 3-2 victory and has lifted the Gowfers off the bottom of the table.
