Kinnoull then forced their way up the park and won a corner on the left, but McKenzie's cross was clutched safely by Jamieson.
As the Gowfers pushed forward once more, McIlravey made another good run down the right before cutting into the box. His initial shot was blocked by 'keeper Curtis as was his second attempt from the rebound.
However, Carnoustie were not to be denied and in 14 minutes McIlravey again got down the right and put in a cross from which Reilly laid the ball back to CUMMING, who drove past Curtis from 10 yards.
Kinnoull went in search of an early equaliser and came close to drawing level when Anton fed the ball up the right to Kelly, whose fierce drive from the edge of the box was well saved by Jamieson at his left-hand post.
In 24 minutes, Gordon was booked for a foul on Clark. From Narey's free kick, Reilly laid the ball back to Clark, whose shot was turned over the bar by Curtis for a fruitless corner.
The home goal again came under pressure when a Kelly cross from the left was headed behind by Robertson for a corner. Anton's cross picked out Kelly, who hooked the ball over from eight yards when he should have done better.
Moments later, Kelly was again just off target, this time with a fierce drive from the left-hand edge of the box, the ball narrowly missing the top corner of the net with Jamieson scrambling across his goal.
In 31 minutes, the Gowfers had another scare when Holden was sent through by Kelly, but saw his shot from inside the box rebound clear off the right-hand post, with Jamieson beaten.
Anton was next to try his luck for the visitors, but his fierce 30 yard drive whistled just wide of Jamieson's right-hand post.
In 38 minutes, Clark was injured in a clash of heads, but continued after treatment.

The Gowfers were now playing all the good football and a great one-two between Beith and Clark was worthy of a goal, but Beith's fierce drive flashed across the face of the goal and beyond the far post, with Curtis well beaten.
In 67 minutes, Urquhart went off and was replaced by Smith.
Carnoustie continued to press and almost went further ahead from a Clark 40 yard free kick. The ball was cleared out to the edge of the box from where Hall shot well over the top.
In 70 minutes, the Gowfers were denied a penalty when Narey was upended just inside the box, the loud home appeals going unheeded by the referee.

With time starting to run out, the visitors made a change in 75 minutes, replacing McKenzie with Gunnion. A minute later, Carnoustie sent on Masson for Hall.
Kinnoull kept plugging away and Kelly attempted to catch Jamieson off guard with a snap shot from 35 yards, but the ball flew well wide of the 'keeper's right-hand post.
The Perth side made a second substitution in 82 minutes, introducing Duigan for Gordon.
Carnoustie almost snatched a third when Beith got down the left and fired in a great cross, but Masson's header lacked direction and went narrowly past.
The Gowfers made their third and final change in 85 minutes, replacing Cumming with Cook.
A minute later, McIlravey was booked for kicking the ball after the whistle had blown for offside.
The yellow card was brandished again right on the final whistle when Anton was cautioned for dissent.
Summing up, Carnoustie were well worth their 2-0 win and now sit just two points behind league leaders Kinnoull.
