A View From The Dugout

Following our last midweek fixture we caught up with Paddy to hear his thoughts on the recent matches and the season so far.
The Season So Far
After a hectic start with a limited pre season and fixture after fixture with some good performances and some underwhelming ones, after a good couple of weeks on the training ground the players have adapted to some of the changes and have looked a real threat last couple of games,
The return of club captain Bailey Steel has been a welcomed sight after a delayed holiday missing 5 games in the busy period, along with a few injuries and other holiday commitments it looks like now we have an almost fully fit squad as we look to kick on and push ourselves into a higher league position
The new faces appear to have settled in well and are adapting to our methods and things are looking positive
Scone Thistle Match:
Against Scone we were more like ourselves after a good two weeks with full training and hard work. I felt we showed positive signs of what we have worked on both tactically and physically .
We came out the traps and created a lot of chances and were resolute in defence and 4:0 at half time probably didn’t have a full resemblance of the control we had
In the 2nd half we were able to give important game time to players who were unfortunate not to start the game but still were able to make an imprint on the game come full time.
The basics were installed back into our game and the quality shone through there after what could of been a very tricky fixture was addressed professionally. There is work still to be done but signs of promise and a step In the right direction.
Blairgowrie Match:
Torrential rain on a Tuesday night was not going to stop us claiming 3 point, we made a quick start and scored a good team goal after 2 mins setting the tone for the remainder of the first half, we played some fantastic football again and scored a further 3 goals to take a 4:0 lead at the break.
After the break we came out sluggish and reverted to a style that does not suit us, in fairness the players were carrying double their body weights with the amount of water on there strips, However, we know that level is not good enough. But we have to give Blairgowrie credit, they came out fighting second half and looked a danger scoring 2 well worked goals which we countered making the final result 6:2
Good to see the guys playing with freedom and smiles on there face, was also good to give Ollie his debut in a Carnoustie shirt with a cameo 2 mins probably making him the youngest ever player!
Lastly the support that myself and the team are receiving at both home and away games has been exceptional and want to personally thank you all and ask that you continue to do this while we adapt to the changes
Cheers
Paddy
