ARCTIC BLAST DENIES GOWFERS ONCE MORE

Saturday’s Scottish Junior Cup tie between Carnoustie Panmure and Petershill once more fell foul of the weather despite conditions looking more positive on Friday afternoon, leaving the sides to try once more next weekend.

General Manager, Mark Johnson said “It was looking good on Friday, the pitch had avoided a heavy frost on Thursday night and it was playable on Friday afternoon, unfortunately the frost was a lot harder on Friday night and by Saturday morning the pitch was brick hard. It is becoming a bit of a nuisance now as that is three weeks without a game and the gate receipts that go with it and like most clubs we rely on gate receipts for cash flow, however there is nothing we can do other than try again next week although the forecast for the week ahead isn’t looking too promising which will mean that after telling everybody that there wont be games on the 23rd or 30th December, we may end up having to play after all and that throws up a whole new set of problems.”
