BRAVE COMEBACK NOT ENOUGH

Carnoustie made it a nervy last few minutes for Bonnyrigg with two late goals but ultimately left themselves with too much to do in an entertaining D J Laing East Of Scotland Cup tie at Laing Park.

Ruaridh Donaldson put the visitors in front on 22 minutes when he seized on a poor defensive header to curl the ball in to Jamie Robbie’s far corner and it was 2-0 at the break after Adam Nelson poked the ball home from close range on 38 minutes.

Bonnyrigg looked to have sealed victory and a Quarter Final against Kelty Hearts when Wayne McIntosh headed home unchallenged from a Nelson corner. With the visitors tiring from their heavy schedule, Panmure showed their spirit and substitute Ryan Roche, playing in the strikers roll, dinked the ball past Andrews after the visiting defence dallied over a clearance. It was a nervy last few minutes for the Rose when Scott Gray deflected a great Danny Millar strike past Andrews, unfortunately it was too little too late and the visitors held on.

Not a great performance from Carnoustie but one with a few positives, notably the performance of Man Of The Match, Bailey Steel in the middle of the park as well as  Scotland Schoolboy Adam Brown. A tiring season for Panmure is almost at an end with just two games left but next week sees us without a fixture.
