Ewan Buggins celebrated signing a new deal with Carnoustie Panmure by scoring two goals against Brechin Vics in Tuesday nights friendly at Laing Park.

Phil McGuire once again made changes to his starting eleven and changed formation, defensively Buggins partnered Paddy Conway at the centre with Bruce Hearn, against his former club and Michael Cruickshank the full backs. Midfield consisted of Jamie Winter, Bailey Steel, Paul McLellan, Sam Simpson and Steven McPhee with Gordon Macdonald on his own up front.

Carnoustie started brightly and took the deserved lead on 12 minutes when a Gordon Macdonald header from a McPhee corner was turned home by Buggins and then a minute letter Macdonald finished smartly from a McPhee pass, in to the bottom corner. Carnoustie continued to dominate and had a number of chances to increase their lead but failed to take them.

The visitors pulled a goal back on 74 minutes a speculative ball in to the box was missed by substitute Harvey Dailly and fell to Jayson Alexander who smashed the ball in off the crossbar. Carnoustie added a third on 80 minutes, a long clearance from Jamie Robbie set Dignan free and as he entered the box, he was upended by a Vics defender and referee Chris McNab pointed to the spot. Dignan took the penalty himself and although the keeper got to the ball, it still ended up in the back of the net. Buggins scored his second and Carnoustie’s fourth with a couple of minutes left, powering a header home from a Dignan corner.
