Penicuik soon tested the Panmure keeper with a shot from the edge but Macpherson was equal to that and palmed it over, from the corner the big keeper came and claimed the ball out the air winning a freekick after a foul on him.
Roberts almost gifted Penicuik a goal on the 10th minute when he played a short back pass to Macpherson but the ball ended up away for a goal kick.
Roberts again was centre of attention this time up the other end of the pitch, McIlravey played a lay off for Roberts but his low shot was saved.
The early Carnoustie pressure paid off when in the 16th minute McIlravey played the ball inside to Roberts who played a perfect ball into JAMIE McCABE who had all the time in the world to dink the ball past the Penicuik keeper.
Carnoustie almost extended the lead 3 minutes later when Grey took a shot wide in the box but it went narrowly wide.
In the 21st minute Roberts fouled a Penicuik player outside the box, however a well hit freekick was well saved by Macpherson in the Panmure goal.
With 26 minutes on the clock, McCabe turned provider when he made a run down the wing and played a great ball through to Scott whose shot was blocked well, but the ball fell perfectly for MICHAEL McILRAVEY to put the ball in the net to double the home sides lead.
Nine minutes later, Penicuik pulled a goal back when BRUCE got the slightest touch to steer the ball past MacPherson.

In the 78th minute there was an altercation between a Penicuik player and Gray, while it looked like the Penicuik player swung an elbow at Gray putting him on the ground, the referee dished out a yellow card to the Carnoustie striker.
With 7 minutes remaining BARR was played just onside and latched onto a through ball leaving him one-on-one with Macpherson. The keeper tried to make himself big but Barr put the ball past him to level the match.
