Carnoustie Panmure are Midlands League Champions 2021/22  after Phil McGuire’s side beat Forfar West End 5-0 at Strathmore Park on Saturday afternoon

At the trophy presentation, President of the SJFA and East Region, Marc Stanton confirmed that Carnoustie would be the East Region’s representatives in the Scottish Cup next season.

As for the game itself, Carnoustie had the game won early on, Dale Reid saw his effort blocked but a combination of Connor Coupe and West End defender, Barrie Gourlay turned the ball in to the net on 11 minutes. Two minutes later it was 2-0 and there was no doubt this as Dale Reid struck his 52nd goal of the season and the Gowfers 150th goal in the Midlands League. Carnoustie continued to create chance after chance and five minutes before half time Reid added his second to send the visitors in leading 3-0.  Reid didn’t have to wait long for his hat-trick and completed an incredible seventh hat-trick when he scored, nine minutes into the second half. Arguably the goal of the game came on 75 minutes, Connor Coupe, who had caused havoc on the left all afternoon, exploded past his marker, got to the line before finding Ryan Dignan, 6 yards out, he manged to control the ball, turn 360 degrees before firing the ball home.

It was a fitting end to an incredible season for Carnoustie, who lifted their first League trophy since they won the Tayside Premier Division on 2004.
