After a long 2 and bit hours journey up the road it was a welcomed sight to arrive at Maud’s Pleasure Park on a beautiful sunny day.
With it being the cup and having 4 players unavailable (Roddy Black, Luke McGeehan, Daniel Neath and Scott Gray) we made some changes to the starting 11 and reshuffled players around which we have been done throughout this competition so far.
My first thoughts when I seen the pitch, was it looked particularly tight and extremely heavy therefore I knew that we would have to adapt our game plan to ensure that we played to the conditions.
We could not have got off to a better start when we scored in the first minute of the game with a great move down the left and a neat header in by Stuart Gersok, this really set the stall out for the game and from that moment I felt that we went on to control most of the game. Although we did not get it all our own way I always felt that we had majority of the possession and created a number of chances that on another day we score 2-3 more.
It doesn’t matter whether you win with 1 goal or several goals in the cup, it’s all about getting into the next round and that is what we did with a commanding performance from start to finish.
Now we turn our attentions back to our core business in the league with two away games up next. First up we are away to Newtongrange Star followed by Broxburn Athletic which will be both be a challenge. The league is really starting to shape up at both ends of the table so it’s important that we continue to take points to move ourselves up the table
