“There was a big sigh of relief as the final whistle went last night, winning the game 3-1 against last season’s Super League Champions Kelty Hearts.
The odds were stacked heavily against us especially with our thread bare squad being severely tested as we had no fewer than 8 players out injured, but we knew the task ahead of us.
I told the guys at the start that I was confident that we could get something from the game and it was about how much we were willing to put in and it would decide what we got at 90 minutes. The boys did not disappoint , from start to finish I felt that we were in control of the game, limiting a strong Kelty side, to minimal chances.
The boys gave there absolute lot and it was a collective team performance that secured the 3 points for us. The performance had everything in it, but most importantly we showed some great quality with the football we played and the goals we scored.
We have secured our Super League status for another season, and although this should have been done many weeks ago we’ve done it. It is a hard league to get into and believe me it’s even harder to stay in it.
A big thank you goes to the supporters last night, there was a great local support and this gave the boys that extra boost when the legs and bodies started to tire.
We will go down to Penicuik on Saturday for our final game of the season and we can really enjoy the day.”
