We have been talking to Manager, Phil McGuire about the clubs appointment of Libby Emmerson as Director of Player Wellbeing
Â
The club has announced the appointment of Libby as Director of Player Wellbeing, a positive step for the club
Â
Very much so, the benefits to us are massive, mental health even with the highlighted issues on social media is still a taboo. The club has worked with Libby and assisted with Back Onside and in return Libby’s commitment, not only our players but the community club has been nothing short of remarkable. The work that Back Onside and Libby do no one really sees unless they are in the know and it’s heartbreaking at times but also there are positive happy success stories for individuals who are suffering.
Mental Health is something that the club feel really strongly about
Â
Yes that is no secret, too many times we hear and see things on social platforms and unfortunately there are many who are vocal and say the right things but unfortunately those same individuals are quick to shoot down without ever knowing someone’s circumstances and unfortunately only add to the problem. So be kind and don’t be a follower.
How will the appointment work ?
Â
As a club the support we get along with the selfless work Libby and Back Onside have done with our players and the community club when required, is nothing short of remarkable. This would mean the support is there for not only ourselves but the whole football club and every boy and girl within our community. These are big steps forwards and shows the duty of care we want to see for everyone whatever the circumstances.
