LATE HEARTBREAK FOR GOWFERS

Carnoustie Panmure went out of the Macron Scottish Junior Cup at the Third Round stage after surrendering the lead twice to Kirkintilloch Rob Roy at Laing Park.

The Gowfers took an early lead when Sam Simpson struck from the penalty spot after Dale Reid was fouled before he could get a shot away and right on half time Reid made it two when he bundled the ball over the line after the Rob Roy keeper could only parry a Ryan Dignan effort from a Bruce Hearn long throw.

The visitors came back in to the game after the break and pulled a goal back through Sean McMonagle on 52 minutes and then levelled on 67 minutes through Ciaran McPherson. However, Carnoustie looked to have won the game when Ryan Suttie nodded the ball home after the keeper blocked his first effort with five minutes to go. The topsy turvy game was still not over though, as Michael Baber equalised on 90 minutes before Luke Kelly won it for the visitors when his shot bounced in front of Alan Cormack and went in.

A very disappointing end to a game that Carnoustie were totally in control of at half time but fair play to the visitors and good luck to Rob Roy in the next round at Johnstone Burgh.
