Steven McPhee’s 78th minute winner against Coupar Angus was another worthy contender for goal of the season and gave The Gowfers a vital three points against a very different looking Coupar Angus side.
It was a far from a straightforward three points for Carnoustie Panmure with Lewis Coutts the only player remaining from the side beaten 5-0 at Foxhall Park earlier in the season, with a large number of players joining the new management team of Jonathan Smart and Derek Mitchell from Lochee Harp.
The visitors that took the lead on 18 minutes through Michael Cavin, but The Gowfers turned the game on its head with a quick-fire double before half time. Captain Ryan Roche thumped a header past Coutts on 37 minutes before Brian Clark scored his first goal of the season, to put Carnoustie in front, two minutes later. With their new additions, Coupar Angus have guile and cunning, and were level on 53 minutes through Brian Harris, however, they were reduced to ten men in 65 minutes when Jack Neave was shown a second yellow card and was sent off.
Carnoustie seized the opportunity and McPhee’s strike saw Carnoustie take the points and maintain the pressure on leaders Dundee East Craigie.
