“WE DID NOT SHOW UP” SAYS GAFFER

First off, I would like to apologise to any supporters who travelled across to Tayport to watch the game on Saturday, we massively underperformed and did not produce the level of performance that I come to expect from this group of players.

We knew this game would be a tough one, Tayport have had a really strong season and The Canniepart has become a ground that few teams have walked away from with a victory in recent months. I want to assure everyone that this defeat was not down to complacency, we were beaten by a team that sadly wanted it more than us on the day.

Tayport deserved there victory, they showed more hunger and desire than us for 90 minutes but I did think the game lacked quality with both teams struggling to get the ball down to play any real football, anything  decent football that was played was very much limited.

In the first 10 minutes of the game we should been 2 or 3 up but frustratingly we made the wrong decisions in and around the box, which seemed to be a theme for our performance. We huffed and puffed for the rest of the game and I felt we lacked any real urgency or tempo to our play.

Make no mistake about this, we wanted to win this competition but on the day we did not show up and were beaten by the better team. As disappointed as I am, we will turn our full focus towards our next league games where we have two massive fixtures. Firstly we face Fauldhouse United at home then we travel to Perth to face Jeanfield the following weekend. These games could have a huge impact on our own super league status but also for the clubs we are playing too, it is vitally important that we get back to our best because we are going to need some big performances in these games.

Thank you for your continued support.
