This is what the manager had to say after the game.
This afternoons game ended in a 1-0 defeat, decided by a penalty, in a game that did not really have many clear cut chances.
Credit to Jeanfield who battled hard and were able to grind out a massively valuable 3points for them. From our point of view, we created four great chances in the 90 minutes and didn’t take any of them.
I felt that until Jeanfield scored their penalty, 10 minutes into the second half, we were in control of the game. I said to the boys that we’ll only lose this game if we make a mistake & that came when Danny Millar caught striker John Anderson inside the box giving the referee no option to award the penalty. Now that I’ve seen the penalty decision in video footage, I’m not convinced it was a penalty.
We created two clear cut chances in the last ten minutes that we should score, I felt that if we broke the deadlock we would go on and win the game. In the final minutes of the game, club captain Steven Cook was brought down. At the time, I thought it was a penalty and now that I’ve seen the footage I still think it is a penalty.
I’ll not pass blame onto the players for this home defeat but they know we weren’t anywhere near our best. Over the majority of the season the boys have been excellent but today was one of those days where we fell well short of that.
Looking at the rest of the results today, there is still much to play for majority of teams with things tense at both ends of the table. We have a minimum of three games left, starting with Bonnyrigg at home in the East of Scotland Cup next week then Bo’ness and Bonnyrigg again, in the league.
I would like to thank our loyal supporters and committee.
