PANMURE BEAT THE WEATHER AND ARBROATH VICS

With the agreement of todays visitors, Arbroath Vics and the match referee an inspection was left until 12pm to see if this afternoons game could go ahead and the delay paid off as at just after midday the tie was given the go ahead.

The story of Carnoustie’s season so far has been one of injuries and illness and today was no different with a makeshift back four comprising of Adam Harwood, Danny Miller, Ryan Roche and Ewan Buggins on duty. Adam Brown was given his first start in midfield along side Liam Scott and Scott Gray with Sam Simpson and Robert Urquhart, who made a surprise return, supporting Gordon Macdonald.

Panmure got the ideal start with just 90 seconds on the clock when a cross shot from Simpson found its way in to the net. Carnoustie dominated play but failed to find their way to goal in misty conditions. Macdonald finally doubled The Gowfers advantage from the penalty spot after he himself had been brought down by the Vics keeper.

The visitors pulled a goal back early in the second half from the spot after Ryan Roche was penalised for a trip. Despite the goal, Carnoustie continued to dominate and got a third goal on 73 minutes when Macdonald got his second of the game after rounding the keeper and slipping the ball in to an empty net. Carnoustie ended the game with their other two youth players Bailey Steel and Darren Cooper on the park.

Not a great game in horrible conditions but Carnoustie are in the next round of the Premier East Region Cup Competition.
