ROBBIE IS GOWFERS GA CUP HERO

Gowfers Goalkeeper Jamie Robbie was the hero as Carnoustie won the G A Engineering Cup Final at Tannadice in a penalty shootout.

The game started at a very high tempo and very quickly tackles were flying all over the park, Referee Greg Soutar had his handful but had no hesitation in showing Andy McDonald a red card on 11 minutes, after receiving two bookings in the space of three minutes. The game calmed down as it progressed but it was Carnoustie’s Jamie Robbie who was the busier of the two keepers pulling of several good saves to deny East Craigie

Carnoustie saw a lot of the ball in the second half but couldn’t break down the East Craigie defence, well marshalled by Man Of The Match James Malone. With the scores level at ninety minutes it was on to penalties. East Craigie scored their first spot kick but then the next went well wide before Robbie saved the third, in the meantime, Jamie McCabe, Ryan Dignan and Sam Simpson had put The Gowfers 3-1 in front, with East Craigie needing to score their fourth penalty, the Gowfers keeper flew to his left and turned the ball wide to ignite delirium from the Carnoustie players, management and committee.

Its not how you get there that matters as long as you get their !
