“WE SHOWED SKILL AND CHARACTER”

If 32 points is the key total to hit in the Super League, then we have taken a massive step towards it following last weekends game.

Disappointed and frustrated following the previous weeks defeat to Tayport, we demanded a big performance and reaction, I am pleased to say that we got exactly that. We showed skill and character again with a comfortable 4-0 victory.

We controlled the game from the first minute to the last and completely destroyed Fauldhouse during the first 45 minutes with some clinical finishing.  The goals came from Sam Simpson, after 10 minutes with a composed finish from the penalty spot taking his tally to an 10 for the season so far,  Jamie McCabe joined in with two first quality free kicks from 25 yards, giving the keeper no chance with either and the fourth was the killer blow when Gordon McDonald headed home from close range to kill off the game.

At half time I told the players that I did not want to concede any sloppy goals and if possible to increase the winning margin to help our goal difference. if it had not been for their keeper then the goals would have kept coming. We created 3 or 4 great chances during the second half and in all honesty, should score them but their keeper did well to keep the score line down to 4-0.

It was a game that could have been a potential banana skin for us, however, the attitude shown by the boys was second to none, we knew what was at stake for us and we took full advantage of the opportunity. Our last home defeat was  on 29th September 2016 and this form has been pivotal in getting us up to joint 7th in the league.

This weekend is another massive game for the club where we have the first of a double header with Jeanfield Swifts, for us this could be the opportunity to take more points in our quest for Super league safety and beyond.

Thank you for continued support.
