Dundonald Bluebell 2 Carnoustie 3
Carnousties run of form in the McBookie.com Super League continued at Moorside Park as Alan McSkimmings side won 3-2 after playing with ten men for 55 minutes.
The Gowfers injury hoodoo continued with Jamie Robbie only fit for the bench and Ewan Buggins with flu, meant another reshuffle. Adam Harwood moved to right back and Alan Cormack came in to replace Robbie in goal.
The game started brightly on a heavy pitch, Danny Millar was booked after 10 minutes and then received a second booking on 37 minutes and was sent off. With Carnoustie still adjusting Calum Rarity put the home side in front with a sweet strike from a corner. The lead lasted just four minutes, Ryan Roche beat Rarity in the air to flick on a Harwood freekick and Jamie McCabe beat the offside trap to slot the ball past Lennox in the Bluebell goal.
Carnoustie continued to work hard in the second half and got their rewards twice in 5 minutes. On 66 minutes, Gordon Macdonald was pushed down in the box and Sam Simpson smashed the penalty in to the bottom corner of the net to make it 2-1. 5 minutes later it was 3-1 as Macdonald, who was giving the pairing of Rarity and Wedderburn a real run around, was felled for a second time. The result was the same, Simpson put his penalty in the same spot and Lennox was well beaten. Carnoustie suffered a blow when Macdonald suffered a knee injury and has to be replaced. With reorganisation in progress Barry Sibanda went on a strong run and pulled a goal back, sliding the ball home from a narrow angle. With the homeside pressing for an equaliser, the referee evened the numbers up when he sent Rarity off for a second booking.
Dundonald had a couple of strong appeals for penalties turned down and Carnoustie held on to record another win and moved up to 10th place in the Super League table.
