The Gowfers moved six points clear at the top of the McBookie.com Midlands League following a 6-0 victory over Blairgowrie at Davie Park.

Carnoustie Manager, Phil McGuire made two changes to the side that started against Dundee North End, both enforced, with Kieran Conway coming in to the side for suspended Ryan Suttie and Brian Clark replaced Bailey Steel who was unwell.

The Gowfers seemed to struggle to get to terms with the new 3G surface at Davie Park in the early exchanges and were further hindered when Pat Martin had to be replaced after 21 minutes, after suffering what looked like a nasty ankle injury. Carnoustie had several chances to take the lead before eventually going in front in first half stoppage time, thanks to a great header from captain Ryan Roche.

After the break it was all Carnoustie and it was soon 2-0, Jamie Winter striking a typical 35 yard drive well out of the reach of the Blairgowrie keeper before, five minutes later, Dale Reid made it three from close range. Ryan Dignan, who had come on for Martin, made it 4-0 on 74 minutes and five minutes later Connor Coupe hit a free kick, that Gareth Bale would have been proud of, to make it 5-0 with Dignan adding his second and The Gowfer’s sixth. with eight minutes remaining.
