THREE MORE POINTS AT SODDEN FORFAR

Forfar West End 0 Carnoustie 2

Carnoustie manager Alan McSkimming was presented with something of a rarity at Forfar West End, an unchanged side for the first time this season. Bailey Steel continued with his role in the middle of the park and Jake Mair continued at Left Back in place on Club Captain Steven Cook.

The rain had been falling all afternoon but the Strathmore Park pitch had held up well, if a bit heavy. Carnoustie started the brighter and took a deserved lead on 11 minutes, a Sam Simpson cross found John Roberts 25 yards from goal, Darryl Burns in the West End goal could only parry Roberts effort and Marc Walker was fasted to react and he slammed the ball back past Burns, in to the net. The homeside came back in to the game midway through the first half and forced Jamie Robbie in to a couple of good, if expected, saves. The visitors themselves came back in to the game and were awarded a penalty on 36 minutes. Ryan Dignan was barged over in the box and referee Steven Traynor had no doubts, pointing to the spot. Simpson took the responsibility over doubling the advantage and sent Burns the wrong way to make it 2-0

West End pressed to get back in to the game in the Second Half but on the few occasions The Gowfers defences were breached then Jamie Robbie was in great form and repelled everything thrown at him. The referee did nothing to encourage his popularity with several contentious decisions but Carnoustie weren’t affected and eventually ran out comfortable winners.
