Carnoustie need just two points from their remaining three games to record their highest points total in the Super League following Wednesday nights comfortable 3-1 win over Kennoway Star Hearts at Laing Park.

Manager Alan McSkimming made changes to the side that won the G A Engineering Cup, Darren Cooper, Paddy Conway, Marc Walker and Alan Cormack all came in to the starting eleven with Youth players Brogan Rourke and Vince Edmonds on the bench.

Both sides started brightly with Carnoustie gradually taking control and took a deserved lead on 36 minutes when Marc Walker rifled the ball home from 20 yards. Adam Harwood made it 2-0 just before half time when he scrambled the ball home at the back post, off his knee, from a corner.

The second half was all Carnoustie, however, the visitors countered just after the hour mark and pulled a goal back through leading scorer, Matthew Gay. Five minutes later, Carnoustie restored their two goal cushion, Marc Walker seized on an error by the visitors defence, took the ball round Robbie Paterson in the Kennoway goal before slipping the ball in to the unguarded net to secure victory and lift Carnoustie above Sauchie and Newtongrange Star in to 11th place.

Carnoustie : Cormack, Paterson , Cook, Harwood (Martin), Conway, Roberts, Walker, McCabe (Rourke), Dignan (Edmonds), Cooper, Simpson
